Well, it was until this lot seem to have banned mp3s - also
they've not only blocked them from you, they've blocked them from me. Cheers
Fortunecity! Now I must re-code all the wavs, 'cause I can't download
either, and move the site - watch this space for redirections in a month
or so. Nothing like running scared from lawsuits from the likes of blandness
merchants like Metallica to crush genuine attempts to put something a bit
more interesting on the www than the mindless drivel that people try
to pass off as web content. You'll be able to get the .ra's for a time,
but God knows for how long. Sorry about that, not my fault but it smells
of wee. NB Aug 2001.
Hello people, , this is a site that is aLL about putting
out original music, much like the
AFD Records and Film Collective
, tHIS SITE IS
not commercial, and we have full permission of the artists involved to put
these tracks on the web.
Allyou need is an mp3 player to hear this wonderful
music. You can get one from Winamp
its easy and quick. MP3 gives struggling
original artists with no money or commercial leanings a chance to
get thier stuff heard. It needs your support. More pages full
of band bios, photos, and recipies are coming soon.
In the meantime you can check out
Desert Sands - Graphic novel/comic with a new angle on the nuclear arms race,
And if you fancy a bit of strange
reading, by all means check out
The Nestle Bus, a Brian Aldiss type trip through North Africa in search of
toaster parts
On with the
music - bear in mind that as of Summer 2001, they are trying to stop you
from hearing most of these. New site beckons!

A rather fantastic track from Big Block 454. These are the lads playing the
Termite Club Festival in Leeds with an improvised gig controlled by wires
and gadgets. Thier official Non Ironic website has the details of what they're
up to, plus an impressive history, it's at
http://www.bigblock454.mcmail.com
, and more mp3s of thier music can be had from thier slice of
mp3.com
SneeringFace
(mp3) Credits: Empty Vessels. Email [email protected]. A rather fantastic track
that's got breakbeats, mad organ bits, catchy lyrics and sounds completly
new. This is a rare live version kindly donated by the nice people from
EmptyVessels
Thier website has tons more good stuff to download, plus interesting info.
The Sky Begins at Your Feet
(mp3) Credits: Discordia. A great laid back track that is the musial equivalent
to bathing in an ice cold and clear mountain stream as the sun comes up.
Watch out for some great oscillator action in this track, it's a Valve powered
Solartron. Scotlands answer to Silver Apples! Email Malloch at [email protected].
To Be a Robot - remix by The Guy Who Invented Fire
(mp3) A stunning remix of this track, originally by the 22 Metre Band. 22
Metre Band are also remixing The Guy Who Invented Fire. Thier webpage can
be found at: http://listen.to/guyfire
Magnox
(mp3) New ambient track by 22 metre band, from the album Tracks and
Channels, inspired by the nuclear reactor of the same name. The track is
about being in the reactor hall of Sizewell 'A'.
Fly International
(mp3) Credits: Odea 6, (who are Mick Harrison, Donald Ross Skinner
(both ex of Prolapse), Paul (Salad) Julie Sims (Tiger) ) A regular supergroup
we have here, with a track that bounces along solidly with a bass line that'll
blow your socks off, and lyrics that you'll be humming all day.
Love somebody Yes I do
(RealAudio) Credits: The Fighting Cocks. I stuck the rm version on
cause it sounds as good as mp3 in this case, a progression for the Fighting
Cocks, taking thier hit of last year a bit further, more brilliant craziness
from these blokes and lasses coming soon now that they're signed. Nice one.
Aftermath
(mp3) Credits: 22 Metre Band. Inspiring and catchy sparse drum and
bass from the 22 Metre Band, a development track for the new album (that
means that it was done just to try things out) 'collaborations' which will
be finished in September. Inspired by the lot of the ordinary soldiers during
World War Two, who were fighting for thier country and thier families, not
for an ideology.
Dog On The Horizon
Cookery Club Returns!

Tom Baker Came Into Town
(Real Audio) Credits: The Durham Ox Singers. The true story of how Tom Baker
almost went for a drink in Daves pub. The DO's were experimental with attitude
- Acapella, formed in a pub, practicing in a pub, and never went to Performing
Art School and proud of it. This is the real deal. Totally original new music.

Beautiful
spoken (computer) word and synth strangeness which is highly informative,
from sunny Frisco, which will teach you all about the bizarre experiments
which were carried out during early LSD (and just about anything that was
in the cupboard at the time) trials in the 60s. The lyrics these blokes have
are terrific. Talent coming from the mighty Negativland. The band is Raymond
Remains (Mike Anderson and Don Joyce) Writer: Mike Anderson Email: [email protected],
and it looks like they want to put stuff out in Europe, which is good news
indeed. We'll put a URL up when they have one.
Small Town Pop Star

Lord God Jesus. Dedicated to all those pop stars who got proper jobs because
they didnt make it, inspired by the sad tossers who reckon they have. We love
you! Sort of. If you disagree with the content, it must be about you. Piss
off.

Frisco Disco
On the Dancefloor, it doesnt matter if you're black
or white, you can get down to the music of Voon, played on a Frisco Disco,
a battery powered plastic record player that was made for kids in the 1980s
that came with headphones, which is what DJs might use in San Francisco if
they are too cool to have a Technics. Credits(alphabetical): Brown, Hibbett

. The last time this was a hit, Doris Day was singing it. But then she didn't
do it in a ragga stylee. This song comes from The Fighting Cocks debut album,

We bypass the MAN by putting new original and misunderstood bands on the
web. Record companies are all about money.
The little ones dont have any, the big ones wont give you any and the bands
usually get a bum deal. We dont get involved with the evils of cash.
Capitalism and art dont mix.
We get the bands' permission first before we put stuff on. Obviously we have
to drug them sometimes and do
mind control experiments
on them but nothing is done under duress, and our apparatus shows that thie
r
life signs are normal
during thier stay at Soundcentraal towers, even when the
brain electrodes are inserted
. They seem to enjoy it. Though
we had one case of brain death,
it turned out to be a Craig David fan so no one noticed afterwards anyway.
